Matric Results 2017

St. Dominic's is pleased to confirm that the IEB results have been received and reflect a 100% pass rate for the 2017 academic year. Furthermore, We are delighted to inform you that 90% (38) of the candidates achieved a Bachelor Degree pass with a further 8% achieving a Diploma pass. Elizabeth de Vries was the standout performer achieving eight (8) distinctions with an overall average of 91%. Furthermore, she was listed amongst pupils who achieved within the top 5% in five (5) subjects and scored 80% or more for Life Orientation. Elizabeth was placed on the IEB’s Commendable Achievement list which is a wonderful achievement having also been listed amongst pupils who achieved within the top 1% in four (4) subjects that included Afrikaans, Geography, Life Orientation and Life Sciences. Both Caria Bucknall and Neil Marais were listed amongst pupils who achieved within the top 1% in Afrikaans – an awesome achievement as well. Jared Tavares and Ahmed Omar achieved six (6) distinctions whilst Neil Marais achieved five (5) distinctions. Caria Bucknall achieved four (4) distinctions whilst Claudia Jerman achieved three (3) distinctions. Dietrich Claassen, Jacques Hugo, Poelo Keta and Britney Tappin each achieved two (2) distinctions with Matthew Hoare and Tyla Loubser all achieving one (1) distinction each.

Matriculant of the Year 2017

The St Dominic's College family is very proud of Elizabeth de Vries, our present Headgirl, who was awarded the prestigious title of "Matriculant of the Year 2017" at a gala function held in Bloemfontein on Saturday evening. Elizabeth was also voted as the "Best Personality" by her fellow finalists. She was one of 96 matriculants who entered the competition from all over the Country. Well done to Elizabeth and her family.

Queen’s Young Leaders Award

Chantelle de Abreu, a Past Pupil of St Dominic’s College, Welkom, was selected to receive a prestigious Queen’s Young Leaders Award.
The Queen’s Young Leaders Awards recognise and celebrate exceptional young people aged 18-29, in the Commonwealth, who are driving change within their communities and transforming people’s lives. Chantelle received her award from Her Majesty the Queen at a ceremony at Buckingham Palace in London.
Chantelle was chosen in recognition of her dedication to helping marginalised young people pursue their education and have access to mental well-being services while they pursue their careers in sport. She believes that this award will help her become an effective leader within her organisation as well as the community that she works in 
She was also honoured by being named amongst Mzansi’s Top 100 in 2017.
This experience has left Chantelle inspired and wanting to encourage all people, young and old, to pursue their dreams and goals.
